Creating an Alert - Tracking New Articles and Books in your field

Library Database Alerts

Most library databases enable you to create alerts to receive email updates when new items are added to the database on your search topic. This is a great way to keep up to date on the most recent research on your topic!

Some databases, such as CINAHL Complete. require creating an account before you can create an alert.

To Create an Account in CINAHL:

1. Go to CINAHL (on the library's Databases A-Z page)

2. In the CINAHL database click "Sign In" in the upper right hand corner.

3. Under the login screen click the "Create one now" link to create a new account.

4. Complete the registration form.

Next, follow the steps below to create an alerts in CINAHL

1. Complete a search on your research topic.

2. Click "Search History" under the search box, and select a search or multiple searches you would like to save.

3. Then click "Save Searches/Alerts."

4. If you have not logged in to your EBSCO account in CINAHL. You will be prompted to login.

5. Name your search and select from the options to save as a permanent search or an alert. (Note: If you select to save as an alert additional options will appear. Complete the options listed under alert and click "Save.")

TIP: Before you save your search as an alert, check that the majority of results are relevant. It is best to only set alerts for specific searches. If you are unsure, please feel free to contact the library. We are always happy to help with creating alerts.
