Link to Library Owned Content

Introduction

In 2022, the Library began to migrate away from its older authentication system and moved to a newer and more secure technology called OpenAthens.

This change has meant that there are some changes in the way that deep linking or permalinking works for a number of our databases.

The following pages will help you link to library content, including posting links to Canvas if you are a faculty or student needing to share as part of a discussion post.

Methods for Linking

There are several methods that can be used to create a permalink to library-owned and licensed content.

  1. Permalink through the library's discovery catalog, OneSearch (the most reliable method)
  2. Linking from the database directly (less reliable)
  3. Using the OpenAthens Link Generator (Reliable, if the library has access to the content)

A new tool for creating course reading lists!

OneList, is a new course reading tool that the library is excited to be piloting with one of our Academic Departments.  This tool will simplify the course reading creation process and simplify access for students.

This new tool has some really exciting features, including built-in social annotation functionalities for PDFs and a tight integration into Canvas.

Migration begins in 2023, so stay tuned for more information!
