Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board examines all human subjects research proposals developed by students and faculty at The Chicago School. This review focuses on minimizing risks to participants, ensuring voluntary participation, and protecting participant's privacy and confidentiality.

After completing the proposal defense, students must complete an IRB application to begin conducting research and gathering data.

Cayuse Human Ethics
The Chicago School uses the Cayuse platform for all IRB submissions. Through Cayuse, researchers complete and submit their IRB applications, upload required documents, respond to reviewer feedback, and track the status of their IRB application. To log into Cayuse, use your Chicago School credentials (email & password).
CITI Human Subjects Protection Training
All researchers - students or faculty - must complete CITI Human Subjects Protection Training prior to submitting an application for IRB review.Select “TCS Education” as the affiliate institution. Next, Select Social & Behavioral Research learner group and complete all required modules

Pre-submission Meeting

Pre-Submission Meeting Calendar
Book a pre-submission meeting with IRB staff to go over recruitment and consent form documents and how these documents can be used to assist in the completion of the full IRB application. Please be sure to attach a copy of your recruitment flyer and consent form documents to the email request (if you have one prepared). If students are conducting an archival data study, a pre-submission meeting request may also be submitted to assist with this process.
