Finding Ebooks & Audiobooks

Printing and Downloading Ebooks in ProQuest

Viewing:

Proquest Ebook Central books can be viewed in their entirety online within the browser. In addition to reading ebooks online, you can download them to read on your device. The advantage of downloading is that you don't need Internet access, once you've downloaded and opened the ebook. For more information please visit Proquest Ebook Central's help pages.

Printing:

When you access a title you are given a limit for printing for that title per log in, for example, "6 pages remaining for copy (out of 6)" and "24 pages remaining for print or chapter download (out of 24).

When you click the print icon it will create a pdf that you can either save or print.

Downloading:

Some books are available for full download for up to 21 days. You will see a notice that says "Download Book" under "Availability."

In order to access the downloaded e-book you must download Adobe Digital Editions. It's a free program that is different than Adobe Reader.

When downloading Adobe Digital Editions, you will be asked to enter an Adobe ID. You can get an Adobe ID for free if you wish to transfer your downloaded eBook from one device to another. You will not need an Adobe ID if you continue to read it on the same device.

Complete instructions are available on the Proquest Ebook Central help pages.

Select the number of days you wish to    download the book for. If you're using a computer, you will download an asm. file into your downloads folder.

Use Adobe Digital Editions to open that file. You should now be able to read the book offline on the Adobe Digital Editions Reader.

A book cannot be checked back into Ebook Central early, but will simply "expire"  from your Adobe Digital Editions reader  when the time is up.

Tips:
