Library Accessibility

Read Out Load

  • Most library database content can be read with JAWS.
  • In general any article or book (usually a chapter) available in PDF content may be downloaded and read aloud in Adobe Acrobat.
  • Some Library databases, such as JSTOR, actually contain PDFs of page images. Since these articles were not created with optical character recognition, they cannot be read aloud with either JAWS or Acrobat.
  • Two Library vendors, EBSCO and Gale, provide resources with native "read out loud" capability

EBSCO Text-To-Speech

The Text-to-speech feature is available for many EBSCO databases from the Library homepage. Look for HTML full-text results. to find articles with this feature. If the article you need is only available in PDF, see the menu to the left for help with these.

Gale Databases

All full-text content in Gale Databases has a "Listen" link available on the detail screen. Click on the title of the article in your search results. The Listen button appears right above the full text.
